SAFETY & FAQ

DXA uses low-dose ionizing radiation. The exposure is minimal and considered safe for most adults.

The scan itself is usually quick. Most of the appointment involves check-in, positioning, and reviewing your results.

Wear comfortable clothing and remove metal items. For repeat scans, try to keep timing, hydration, and eating patterns consistent.

If you are pregnant or may be pregnant, contact us before scheduling your scan. Although the x-ray radiation is incredibly low-dose, no safe amount of ionizing radiation exposure has been determined to be safe for a developing human being.
